Day trip from Paphos
Petra tou Romiou & Kouklia
Short answer
Petra tou Romiou, the sea stack known as Aphrodite's Rock, is the most photographed coastline in Cyprus and the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite. It is about 25 km east of Paphos on the old coast road. Combine it with the Sanctuary of Aphrodite at Kouklia, on the way, for a half-day with more substance than a photo stop.

Who it's for
Everyone — it is an easy trip, and sunset makes it special for couples.
Getting there
About 25–30 minutes from Paphos on the B6 coast road.
Without a car: Some coastal tours stop here. Intercity buses between Paphos and Limassol use the motorway rather than the coast road, so check stops carefully before relying on public transport.
Suggested plan

17:30
Petra tou Romiou
Use the underpass from the car park to the beach, swim if it is calm, and stay for sunset.

What to know before you go
- The beach is pebbly and shelves quickly — water shoes help and it is not ideal for small children.
- Waves can be strong when the wind is up. There are no lifeguards on the rock itself.
- Legend says swimming around the rock brings eternal youth. Climbing the rock is dangerous and discouraged.
- There is a tourist pavilion and car park on the land side of the road with an underpass to the beach.
- The viewpoint on the road above, coming from the Paphos side, gives the classic photo angle.
