Day trip from Paphos
Troodos Mountains
Short answer
The Troodos range is the cool, green interior of Cyprus, topped by Mount Olympos at 1,952 m. It is home to UNESCO-listed painted churches, wine and mountain villages, and the famous Kykkos Monastery. From Paphos it is a full day with a lot of driving on winding roads — worth it, but do not try to see everything.

Who it's for
Visitors staying four days or more who want to see beyond the coast — especially in summer, when the mountains are cooler.
Getting there
Roughly 1.5–2 hours each way depending on route and where in the mountains you head.
Without a car: Organised Troodos day tours run from Paphos and avoid the mountain driving.
Suggested plan
08:30
Drive into the mountains
Head up via the wine villages or via Limassol and the B8, depending on your route.
10:30
A painted church or Kykkos
Choose one cultural focus — a UNESCO painted church or Kykkos Monastery.
13:00
Lunch in a mountain village
Village tavernas around Platres or the Marathasa valley.
15:00
Short forest walk
One of the nature trails around Troodos square or Platres.
17:00
Drive back before dark
Mountain roads are slow and winding; avoid driving them tired.
